Opportunity Description

Volunteers are needed to assist staff in running the refreshment bars at Downview and High Down Prisons. There are 3 different refreshment areas, one in the Visits Hall of each prison and one in the Visitors Centre (no prisoner contact).  Volunteers serve basic refreshments to family and friends of prisoners, including tea and coffee.

Due to the nature of the volunteering (i.e. in a prison) there are certain security checks the volunteer needs to go through before being accepted.  These checks include being able to present the following documents:
Valid UK/EU passport and/or valid full UK/EU drivers licence (with photo ID) AND an original birth certificate, issues within 12 months of birth.  EU National Identity cards will also be accepted as proof of identity.  Volunteers unable to present any of these documents will not be processed any further.  Volunteers should be aware that the security checking can be a slow process and should allow a minimum of 4 weeks for an application to be approved.
