To run regular activity sessions for children with special educational needs and disability (SEND), using specially adapted toys and props. This role is needed across all 7 libraries; Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Morden, Pollards Hill, Raynes Park, West Barnes and Wimbledon.
Help to plan, organise and implement a programme of fun activities aimed at SEND children.
Prepare and organise the set up of any equipment or resources for SEND activities.
Work with Library staff to increase participation levels in children’s SEND activities.
Help to initiate, maintain and develop contacts in the local community to increase and develop participation and awareness.
Monitor and assist in improving the quality of service delivered in children’s SEND activities.
Any other associated tasks from time to time to be agreed.
Previous experience of working with children and participating in children’s activities preferred.
The ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with children, library staff, other volunteers and members of the public.
A basic understanding of how the Library Service operates, either in general terms or in the candidate's personal experience.
Reliable, confident and responsible individual, with enthusiasm and effective interpersonal skills.
The ability to cope with the duties and responsibilities of the post and the associated environment, including an understanding of health & safety.
